Policy advice and dissemination initiatives
The citizens' deliberation phase ended at the Second European Citizens’ Convention, with the presentation of the European Citizens’ Assessment Report in the European Parliament on 23 January 2006.
The citizens panel formulated 37 recommendations on the ethical, legal, social and economic aspects of brain sciences, along 6 themes: Regulation and Control, Normalcy vs Diversity, Information and Communication, Equal access to treatment, Pressure from Economic Interests and Freedom of Choice.
The Meeting of Minds Partner consortium is committed to disseminate the citizens' findings and recommendations to national and European policymakers in order to maximize the outcomes of the European Citizens’ Deliberation process. This is being achieved using different means such as:
Policy advice and dissemination events
- presentations on Meeting of Minds at national and international events, including conferences, workshops, seminars, Science festivals
- specific initiatives to obtain feedback from experts and stakeholders on the recommendations
Input into policymaking processes
- input into the Green Paper on mental health
Reflections on Brain Science and the Meeting of Minds initiative
- reflections by experts and stakeholders involved in Meeting of Minds
